The Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen uses card-access transfer stations — the 6th Line (main), Oak Lake, West Kosh and Jack Lake sites — rather than an open public landfill. Each requires a Transfer Station Card, accepts only township-generated waste, takes debit or credit only (no cash), and still requires bag tags; hours are seasonal and vary by site (the 6th Line has the widest hours, while the smaller lake sites open only a couple of days a week — confirm current hours with the Township at 705-778-2308). Curbside garbage and blue-box collection runs only in the Havelock village ward, on Thursdays — rural and lake properties are not on curbside at all and must haul to the transfer stations, with strict clear-bag rules (tags 5 for $6, 30 lb max, refused if more than 10% recyclable). For a cottage cleanout or renovation, a roll-off bin is almost always cheaper and far less work: we drop it in your driveway, you fill it on your own schedule, and we take it to the scale and dispose of it responsibly — and we provide weigh-scale receipts with every rental.

Do I need a permit to put a bin in Havelock?
If the bin sits on your own driveway or private property, no permit is needed. Havelock-Belmont-Methuen doesn’t appear to publish a specific bin-on-street permit; if a bin must sit on a municipal road, confirm current requirements with the Township Public Works at 705 778-2481. Wherever possible we’ll place the bin on your property so you don’t need one.

What size bin do I need?
A single-room reno or garage clean-out normally fits a 7–11 yard bin; a full basement, roof, or whole-cottage clean-out is better in a 16–25 yard bin. Not sure? Tell us the project and we’ll recommend the right size.
What can’t go in the bin?
Hazardous waste, liquids, propane tanks, tires and certain electronics can’t go in a standard bin — just ask and we’ll point you to the right option.
